There are options and alternatives in this industry to manufacture responsibly. Fashion is a complicated business involving long and varied supply chains of production, raw material, textile manufacture, clothing construction, shipping, retail, use and ultimately disposal of the garment. There is an overproduction and wastage in fashion and we need to change that.
In Twotaels, our aim is to design and manufacture our clothes with greater care and to reduce the impact made to the environment by producing responsibly.
We source for cotton printed batik from local batik producers in Indonesia whenever possible.
We only produce in small batch quantities, although this would result in higher cost, it helps the environment to prevent wastage in producing only what we need.
We re-use all the fabric scraps left from the cutting and sewing, and engage the help of local women community to help turn these into small hair and bag accessories.
Most of these women are housewives from lower income families and these small projects help their livelihood.
